Ingredients of Batata Vada

  1. You need 3 of medium potatoes, boiled.
  2. Prepare 1/4 tsp of mustard seeds.
  3. It’s 1 pinch of Asafoetida.
  4. It’s 1/2 tsp of Ginger garlic paste.
  5. Prepare 3-4 of curry leaves.
  6. Make ready 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
  7. You need 1 tsp of lemon juice.
  8. Make ready 1/2 cup of gram flour.
  9. Prepare 1 pinch of baking soda.
  10. It’s 1/3 cup of water.
  11. Prepare 2 tsp of oil + Oil for frying.
  12. It’s to taste of Salt.

  1. Peel boiled potatoes and mash them. Heat 2 spn oil in a small pan at medium flame. Add mustard seeds when they start to crackle add asafoetida,curry leaves and ginger-garlic paste.Stir and cook for a minute. Add turmeric powder and mix well..
  2. Turn off the flame and transfer the prepare tempering over mashed potatoes..
  3. Now make round shaped balls from it..
  4. Prepare a batter for vada - Take gram flour and add salt,turmeric asafoetida and baking soda. Add water little by little and stir continuously and make a smooth batter..
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame. When oil is medium hot dip each potato ball into batter and coat it evenly with hand or spoon and gently drop balls in a single batch and deep fry until light golden brown..
  6. Drain excess oil using perforated spoon and transfer them on a plate. Batata Vada is now ready for serving..
