Ingredients of Fried Mac and Cheese Bites…..
- Prepare 12 oz of about 4 cups (cooked) elbow macaroni.
- It’s 2 tbsp of unsalted butter.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour.
- You need 1 1/2 cup of milk.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of salt.
- Take 1/4 tsp of black pepper.
- You need 1 pinch of of cayenne pepper.
- It’s 2 cup of shredded cheddar.
- It’s 4 oz of thinly sliced deli American cheese, cut into thin strips.
- It’s 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- You need 2 of large eggs.
- Make ready 1 of box (8 oz ) Italian panko bread crumbs.
- It’s 6 cup of vegetable oil - for frying.
If your mac and cheese is more on the dry side (which happens sometimes with baked mac and cheese from scratch) no worries!This mac is cheesed to the max with Cheddar, Italian cheeses, and even pimento cheese spread; chilled, then scooped into balls, breaded, and fried.Stir in the macaroni, and return to a boil.These Mac and Cheese Bites always get rave reviews with their creamy center and crunchy Doritos crust.

- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni and cook 7 min. Drain..

So incredibly addicting, it's impossible to eat just one.Fried mac and cheese balls are great for a party or as a way to use up leftover mac and cheese.I also love the ratio of the crunchy outside to creamy inside.
Cut the frozen mac and cheese into bite size pieces and bread them using a combination of flour, egg and Doritos.I've tasted Mac and Cheese Bites - but wondering if you refrigerate them after coating them - doing this just firms them up a bit more and will prevent them from breaking apart - also pull them out a few.Just use cheddar cheese for fried mac and cheese.This is also when you would add bacon if you're using it.So instead of mac & cheese balls, they are more bites.
