- It’s 6 pieces of Rohu fish.
- It’s 1 of medium sized onion chopped.
- It’s 1 of medium sized onion paste.
- Make ready 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
- You need 1 teaspoon of ginger paste.
- Prepare 1 teaspoon of garlic paste.
- Make ready 1.5 teaspoon of red chilli powder.

- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder.

- It’s 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
- You need As required of Salt.
- Take 1 teaspoon of ghee.
- It’s As required of Mustard oil.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of coriander leaves chopped.
Fish had always been my favorite, though here in Bangalore you can't find such good and fresh variety of fish, so I miss that "fish market" back in Kolkata, those shouts and the fishy smell.The Catla fish is an economically very important South Asian freshwater fish.It is in the carp family Cyprinidae.It is known by many different names such as Katla, Katol, Indian Major carp, Chepti, Baudhekra, Bacha, Karakatla and Tambra.

- Marinate the fishes with some salt and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric..
- Heat some oil in a wok and deep fry the fishes. Keep them aside..
- In the same wok, add the cloves, green cardamom, cinnamon stick and bay leaf. Let them splutter..
- Add the chopped onion and the sugar to get caramelized..
- Fry the onions till it gets light brown in colour..
- Add the onion paste and fry it well..
- Add the ginger paste, garlic paste, red chilli powder, cumin powder and coriander powder.
- Beat the Yoghurt well and add it in the wok..
- Fry them very well until the oil separates..
- Add 1 cup of water and some salt as per taste. Bring it to boil..
- Add the fried fishes and cover it for a while..
- After you get the desired consistency in the gravy, add the garam masala powder and ghee..
- Garnish it with some coriander leaves and remove it from the flame..
- Serve hot..
