A well-proportioned batter of raw rice and urad dal is fermented, tempered and cooked in an appe mould, to get dainty, fluffy and flavour-packed rice appe. Easy to make, but a bit more exotic than idlis and dosas, the rice appe.
Here is the best “Rice appe” recipe we have found so far. This will be really delicious.
Ingredients of Rice appe
- Prepare 2 cups of steamed rice(left over rice).
- Make ready 1/2 cup of semolina.
- Prepare 1/2 of chopped capsicum.
- Take 1 of chopped onion.
- Make ready 2 of chopped green chillies.
- You need Some of chopped coriander leaves.
- Take 1/2 cup of water or as required.
- Make ready 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder.
- Make ready 1/2 tsp of chilli flakes.
- You need 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds.
- It’s 7-8 of curry leaves.
- You need 1/4 tsp of baking soda.
- You need 1-2 tsp of oil.
- Make ready to taste of Salt.
This batter can be used for making Dosai or Uttapam as well.Appe is a shallow fried dumpling made with fermented rice and urad dal batter.Rice appe is a very popular breakfast item in South India and it's known by va.The same rice can be used to prepare a breakfast or an evening snack this way you do not waste food plus avoid the hassle to cook a new meal altogether.
Rice appe instructions
- Take a grinder pot add steam rice, add little water grind it make smooth paste..
- Now take a bowl pour batter and add semolina, salt mix it properly, add water as required. Cover it and keep a side for 15 minutes..
- Now add chopped onion,capsicum, chilli flacks, black pepper, salt mix it well..
- Now heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, green chillies, curry leaves saute little bit switch off the flame..
- Then pour this tadka in rice batter, mix well, add baking soda and add little water and mix it well.
- Now heat a aape pan and grease with oil, pour batter in each cavities and covered it for 2-3 minutes..
- Now apply little oil on top of each appe then flip all them, cover it again and cook for 2 minutes..
- Now take out a plate or bowl and serve it hot with green chutney and tomato sauce. Enjoy endlessly.
