  1. You need 2-3 pieces of Ilish fish, shallow fried.
  2. Make ready 1 tsp. of kalonji (nigella seeds).
  3. You need 1 tsp. of ginger, grated.
  4. You need 1-2 of green chilies.
  5. Take 1 tbsp. of mustard oil.
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp. of panch phoron (equal quantities of fennel, fenugreek, mustard, cumin & nigella seeds).
  7. Take to taste of salt.
  8. Prepare 1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder.
  9. Take 1 cup of milk.
  10. Prepare 2-3 of green chilies, slit.
  11. It’s 1-2 tsp. of raw mustard oil to garnish.
  12. It’s as needed of coriander leaves to garnish.

  1. Grind together nigella seeds, ginger and green chilies to a fine paste. Keep aside. Heat 1 tbsp. oil and temper with panch phoron..
  2. Saute for a few seconds and then add the ground paste along with turmeric powder. Fry on a medium flame till it leaves the sides of the pan..
  3. Add the milk, salt, fried fish and the slit chilies. Cover and simmer for 2-3 minutes. When done, add the raw mustard oil and switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with plain steamed rice..
