Made from a mixture of beef and pork, flavored with nutmeg and cardamom and served with a tasty Swedish Meatball sauce. Swedish Meatballs - Nothing beats homemade meatballs smothered in a creamy gravy sauce, and they taste much better than the IKEA version!

Ingredients of Swedish Meatballs
- You need of MEATBALLS.
- Prepare 3/4 lb of lean ground beef.
- Take 3/4 lb of ground pork.
- Prepare 1 of large egg.
- Prepare 1 of slice sour dough bread, crusts renoved and made into fresh crumbs in the food processor.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of cream, heavy, Iight or half and half.
- Take 1 tsp of salt.
- Make ready 1 tsp of cajun seasoning.
- You need 1 tbsp of sour cream.
- Prepare 1/4 cup of romano cheese, grated.
- It’s 1 tsp of baking powder ( makes the meatballs very tender and light ).
- You need 1/4 tsp of granulated garlic.
- It’s 1 tsp of grated fresh onion.
- You need 1/4 tsp of allspice.
- It’s 2 tbsp of fresh chopped parsley.
- You need of SAUCE.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour.
- Make ready 1 tbsp of butter, salted or unsalted.
- Prepare 1 1/2 cup of low sodium chicken broth.
- It’s 1 1/2 cup of low sodium beef broth.
- You need 1 cup of heavy cream.
- Prepare 2 tsp of fresh lemon juice.
- Take 2 tbsp of dry white wine.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Dijon mustard.
- Take 1 tbsp of tomato ketchup.
- You need 1 tsp of tamari soy sauce.
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of black pepper.
- Prepare 1 tsp of hot sauce, such as Franks brand.
- It’s 4 of green onions, sliced.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of fresh chopped parsley.
- Take of SAUTEING MEATBALLS.
- Take 2 tbsp of olive oil.

Swedish Meatballs step by step
- MAKE MEATBALLS.
- Combine cream and egg in a bowl, whisk to mix and add sourdough bread crumbs, set aside to soak.
- In a large bowl combine all remaining meatball ingredient. including soaked bread crumbs and any. liquid the bread did not soak up. Combine well but don't overmix.
- Roll meat mixture into1 inch balls.
- In a large skillet heat olive oil. Brown meatballs on all sides removing to a plate as done, do not crowd.
- .MAKE SAUCE.
- In pan meatballs were cooked add butter to any drippings and melt, whisk in flour, cook 2 minutes, add both broths while whisking, bring to a boil and cook to a .smooth sauce, add remaining ingredients EXCEPT green onions and parsley. Cook until a nice sauce consistency about 5 minutes.
- Add parsley and green onions and cook 1 minute.
- Return the meatballs to the sauce in skillet, cook on low about 15 minutes, covered..
- Serve as is an appetizer, or also delicious on pasta rice or potatoes.
