Onions can be added without giving a cross cut. If you do decide to make a cross cut, make sure that the cut is not deep, otherwise onions will not remain intact.

Ingredients of Malai Bharva pyaaz / stuff onion
- It’s 4-5 of small onions.
- It’s 1/2 cup of poha.
- Make ready 1/2 cup of gathiya (type of namkeen).
- You need 1/2 tsp of Ginger Garlic paste.
- It’s 1/2 cup of Coriander leaves.
- It’s as per taste of Salt.
- You need 1/2 tea spoon of Haldi / turmeric.
- It’s as required of Red chilli powder.
- Prepare pinch of hing / asafoetida.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of jeera /cumin.
- Prepare tea spoon of Mustard seeds small.
- It’s 2-3 tsp of Oil.
- You need 1 of tomato chopped.
- Prepare as required of Little water for gravy.
- You need 1 tsp of Cream or Malai.
There are various types of brinjals and here I used medium-sized purple brinjal.Let's talk about Malai Pyaaz Recipe.Very simple and quick to make with a couple of main ingredients i.e. malai and onions.I have used both regular onions, which I had sliced and the baby onions.
Malai Bharva pyaaz / stuff onion step by step
- Take all the ingredients and remove the skin of onions wash and give a small cut from centre for filling and keep aside.
- Now soak poha in water for 5 minutes and crushed gatiya then in bowl add soak poha,gatiya,coriander leaves, ginger garlic paste,dry masale and little oil for mixing.
- Then stuff the mixture in onions and in pan put oil and add mustard seed,jeera, hing,add stuffed onions cook for a while then add chopped tomatoes and all dry masala and remaining stuffing mixture,add cream or malai mix it nicely then add water for gravy as required and cover with lid and cook till onions are soft and cooked.
- Serve it with chapati or paratha.
