Khichdi is made often at home for lunch since my younger kid loves it. I make many varieties, this one is similar to the dal khichdi i shared earlier except Hi Swasthi, The only millet I've tried long ago is Pearl Millet or bajra in hindi.

Ingredients of Pearl Millet-Sprouts Khichdi
- Take of Bajra soaked for 8 hours 1/2 cup.
- Take of Green Gram 3 tablespoons.
- Prepare Handful of mixed sprouts.
- You need to taste of Salt.
- Prepare 1 of dry red chilli broken.
- You need 2 tablespoons of Pure ghee.
- It’s 1 teaspoon of Cumin seeds.
- Make ready 1/2 teaspoon of Asafoetida.
- Make ready 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder (haldi).
Once the pressure is released, give it a good steer.Transfer the khichdi in a serving bowl and put some ghee on top.Also known as - Khichuri - Kedgeree - khichari.Bajra khichdi is an easy rice recipe.
Pearl Millet-Sprouts Khichdi step by step
- Combine the bajra, sprouts,daal,salt and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistles..
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Keep aside..
- Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds and red chilli.
- When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida and turmeric powder and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds..
- Add the cooked bajra-daal khichdi and little salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally..
- Serve immediately..
