With festive season around the corner I am planning to share few sweets and savory recipes that you can prepare for Krishna janmashtami, vinayaka chathurthi and so on.This amrit peda recipe is a quite versatile and rich one that you can make for any.The awesome Amrit pedas are basically malai pedas which are stuffed with pistachios and then served decorated with slivered pistachios as garnish.
The recipe uses Khoya, also known as Mawa, which makes it a steal to get the desired consistency in no time.Mawa is made by boiling milk for a long period of time to evaporate the water in the milk so that only milk solids remain.Milk is boiled on a medium to slow flame, to prevent it from burning and sticking to the bottom of the pan.Even though it takes a long time to make it, it is worth the effort.More than the menu on Diwali day, there is more focus on sweets and snacks prepared that week like Amrit Peda, Poha Chivda, Rice Flour Chakli, because friends and relatives love to exchange these along with small gifts as a token of their love.
