An anarsa is an Indian pastry-like snack commonly associated with the Hindu festival of Diwali in Bihar and Maharashtra. Its ingredients include jaggery (unrefined cane sugar), rice, poppy seed and ghee (clarified butter).
Here is the best “Anarsa” recipe we have found so far. This will be really delicious.
Ingredients of Anarsa
- Prepare 1 cup of rice.
- You need 1/2 cup of sugar(instead of sugar you can also add jaggery).
- Prepare as required of Oil for frying.
- Make ready 1/2 cup of Khoya.
- It’s 1/2 bowl of Sesame.
- You need 1-2 tbsp of milk if needed.

Anarsa step by step
- Soak rice overnight..
- At morning strain out water and spread it on any Muslin or cotton cloth for half an hour..
- Now grind it in mixer jar grind it like a fine powder.seive it..
- Now add sugar and knead dough the rice is soaked, so there is moisture in it, that the dough will be kneaded. If it is too hard add2- 3tsp of milk to it. Cover it with any lid and leave it for 2 hours..
- Now take mava add one tbsp of powdered sugar.mix it well. I have made khoya in the home itself,it was added sugar at the time of making..
- Now take a small portion of dough and fill mava in the middle and close it.seal all the anarsa..
- After that add the sesame to the plate and coat all the Anarsa. Now take any pan pour oil for frying.oil should be hot. Fry it on medium high flame.few Sesame will scattered in oil. Don't worry. Fry it from one side only.keep pouring hot oil over the Anarsa with help of spatula..
- When you see golden brown colour of your Anarsa remove it on any plate.when you break it for eating,It's melting khoya is really mouth watering..
