This moong dal halwa is very easy to prepare but one important step is to soak the dal for few hours or overnight for it to get cooked quickly. Yellow moong dal is easily available in India and halwa is made in many ways and shall be posting various other halwa recipes as I keep posting other halwa.
Here is the best “Moong ki daal or chawal” recipe we have found so far. This is gonna smell and look delicious.
Ingredients of Moong ki daal or chawal
- It’s 1 cup of moong daal.
- It’s 1 tsp of red chilli powder.
- You need 1/4 tsp of turmaric powder.
- You need 1/4 tsp of coriander powder.
- Take to taste of Salt.
- It’s of Temering.
- Prepare as needed of Oil.
- You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 5 of _6 cloves of garlic.
- It’s 2 of green chillies.
- You need 3 of _4 dried red chillies.
It is rich in protein and a staple food in India and main source of protein for vegetarians.Serve it with rice and roti for healthy wholesome meal.Sabut moong ki dal is a staple dal in every Indian household.It is nutritious, healthy and goes well with most of the Indian side dishes.
Moong ki daal or chawal instructions
- Take daal and wash with water. Soak for 20 minutes (optional).
- Add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmaric powder along with salt and cook on low flame till done.
- Remove foam from the top of daal which always produce during boiling of daal.
- When daal is soft. Stir to make it homogeneous or use blender if needed. Usually blending is not required for moong ki daal..
- For baghar heat oil and add cumin seeds, grated garlic, red chillies cook a while (I use grated garlic which gives very strong fragrance if u want less flavor add less garlic or use chopped instead of grated one).
- Add slit green chillies in baghar mix and quickly remove from stove and pour over daal. Cover the lid and keep it for 5_10 minutes for good fragrance..
- Boil rice in plain water, drain water when done.
- Serve daal with plain boiled rice and salad.
