Ingredients of Goan Chicken curry

- It’s 500 gms of chicken.
- Make ready 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.
- Take 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
- Take 1/2 of Juice of a lemon.

- It’s 1 tsp of fennel seeds.
- It’s 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 1 1/2 tsp of coriander seeds.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of black peppercorns.
- You need 1 of green cardamom.
- Take 3 of cloves.
- You need 1 inch of cinnamon.
- You need 1-2 petals of Star anise.
- Make ready 11/2 of medium sized onions chopped roughly.
- Prepare 2 of medium sized tomatoes chopped roughly.
- You need 1/2 of green chilli.
- It’s 1 tbsp of tamarind paste.
- Take 4 tbsp of oil.
- It’s as required of Water as required.

Goan Chicken curry step by step
- In a bowl, marinate the chicken with the ingredients under "For marination" and keep in the refrigerator for around 1/2 an hour..
- In a pan dry roast all the whole dry spices. Let it cool..
- While the dry spices are cooling, heat oil in a pan, saute the onions, tomatoes and green chilli till they are soft and pulpy. Remove from flame and set aside to cool..
- Once both the dry spices and the onion tomato mixture is cooled. Grind them to a fine paste adding water if and as required..
- Then in a pan, heat oil and fry the marinated chicken for about 5 mins..
- Next add the ground masala paste to the chicken, add water then cover and cook on slow fire till the chicken is cooked..
- Once the chicken is cooked, add the tamarind pulp cook for 5 mins more..
- Finally garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or paratha or roti..
